Question 1

What is Tahana?

Accepted Answer

Tahana is a household operating system: an all-in-one app that brings together budgeting, meal planning, health tracking, shopping lists, family calendars, event planning, documents, and more. Instead of juggling 8 different apps, your whole household runs through one shared space.

Question 2

Who is Tahana for?

Accepted Answer

Tahana is built for anyone who shares a household: couples, families with children, multi-generational homes, roommates, or even individuals who want all their personal tools in one place. If you have more than one person under your roof (or just a lot going on in your life), Tahana will help.

Question 3

Is there a free trial?

Accepted Answer

There's no trial, because there's something better: a Free plan that never expires and never asks for a card. It gives you the full Family Calendar, shared events and reminders, calendar sync, shopping lists, the meal planner and recipe library, and the Budget Calendar at 10 transactions a month. Use it for as long as you like. When you're ready for the rest, the Household plan is a straight purchase, charged at checkout and renewing yearly until you cancel. If you change your mind after your first payment, you have 48 hours to request a full refund.

Question 4

How do I learn how each part of Tahana works?

Accepted Answer

Every page has its own step-by-step tutorial. Open the part you want to learn (Budget Calendar, Shopping, Events and so on) and tap Tutorial, the graduation cap at the top of the page. It walks you through that page one step at a time, and you try each thing as you go. A red dot on the button means you haven't opened that page's tutorial yet. To take the welcome tour again, go to Settings › Help & Support and tap Replay. Still stuck? Email support@herolabsdigital.com and we'll help.

Question 5

What devices does Tahana work on?

Accepted Answer

Tahana works on any modern browser (desktop, laptop, tablet, or mobile) and is installable as a Progressive Web App (PWA) on your phone's home screen for an app-like experience with offline support. A native Android app is coming to Google Play, with iOS on the roadmap.

Question 6

How much does Tahana cost?

Accepted Answer

One simple price for the whole household: every feature, up to 4 people in total, no tiers, no add-ons, and no per-seat pricing. The regular price is $50/year. Right now there's an early-bird rate of $24.99/year, available through November 15, 2026 and honored on renewal for everyone who subscribes before then. There's also a Free plan for solo use that never charges you. We'll always give at least 30 days' notice before any price change. See our pricing page for full details.

Question 7

What is the 48-hour refund window?

Accepted Answer

If you subscribe to Tahana and change your mind within 48 hours of your first payment, email us at support@herolabsdigital.com from the address you used to sign up and we'll issue a full refund. The 48-hour window starts on the date of your first payment. After that window, payments are non-refundable: though nothing limits any refund rights you have under your local consumer law.

Question 8

Can I cancel my subscription anytime?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Cancel at any time from your account settings with no penalty. When you cancel, you'll keep access until the end of the current billing period. You won't be billed again, and your cancellation takes effect at renewal.

Question 9

What happens to my data after I cancel?

Accepted Answer

Nothing is deleted. When your paid subscription ends, your account simply moves to the free plan and your data stays put: you can still log in, view your data, and export everything. If you resubscribe later, it's all exactly where you left it. Data is only permanently deleted if you explicitly delete your account (with a 30-day export window first).

Question 10

What payment methods are accepted?

Accepted Answer

We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover) through a PCI-compliant third-party payment processor. Depending on your region, express options like Apple Pay and Google Pay may also appear at checkout. We do not currently accept PayPal, bank transfers, or cryptocurrency.

Question 11

Can I subscribe from outside Canada and the US?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Tahana works worldwide. Prices are in US dollars (USD); if your card is in another currency, your bank converts it at its own exchange rate and may add a small foreign transaction fee. Where local law requires it, sales tax, VAT, or GST is handled at checkout. Your consumer rights under local law (like the EU's 14-day withdrawal right) always apply on top of our 48-hour refund window.

Question 12

Will prices increase?

Accepted Answer

We will not raise prices without giving active subscribers at least 30 days' advance written notice. If we do increase the price, you'll always have the option to cancel before the increase takes effect.

Question 13

How many people can use one Tahana account?

Accepted Answer

4 people in total, including you: so one subscription covers you plus 3 others. Each person gets their own login and their own private spaces (like health tracking), while shared areas like the calendar, shopping, and meals are visible to everyone in the household. If someone later moves out and wants a household of their own, they start their own subscription.

Question 14

Can household members see each other's private data?

Accepted Answer

No. Health data (medications, cycle tracking, weight, journal) is strictly private to each member. Shared modules like the shopping list, family calendar, and household messaging are visible to everyone in the household. You control what you share.

Question 15

How do I invite someone to my household?

Accepted Answer

From your household settings, you can send an email invite to anyone you want to add. They'll receive a link to create their own account, which is then connected to your household. You can remove members at any time.

Question 16

Can children use Tahana?

Accepted Answer

Tahana is intended for users 13 and older. If you'd like to add a child under 13 to a household, we recommend managing their involvement through a parent's account. Please review our Privacy Policy for more information about our approach to children's data.

Question 17

What features are included in a Tahana subscription?

Accepted Answer

Everything. Budget Calendar, Family Calendar, Shopping Lists, Meal Planner, Recipe Library, Health Tracker (medications, cycle, sleep, weight, exercise, water, journal), Events, Documents, Gallery, Gift Registry, Sticky Notes, Contacts, Location Sharing, and Household Messaging: all included with every subscription.

Question 18

Does the Budget Calendar support recurring transactions?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Recurring transactions support daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and yearly frequencies, plus advanced patterns like "last Saturday of the month" or "every 2 weeks." You can set an end date, a payment count, or leave them running indefinitely. Each occurrence can be independently marked as paid.

Question 19

Can I sync Tahana with my bank or other apps?

Accepted Answer

Direct bank sync is not currently available. Transactions are entered manually or via CSV import. We are exploring bank sync integrations and will announce when it's available.

Question 20

Is there a limit on how many transactions, photos, or documents I can store?

Accepted Answer

Active subscribers have no transaction limits. Document and photo storage has a generous allowance: if you approach the limit, we'll notify you well in advance. For most households, this is more than enough.

Question 21

Can Tahana make mistakes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Tahana is software, and it can have bugs. Balances, projections, debt plans, interest estimates, reminders, notifications, and sync can be wrong, late, or missing, and results also depend on what your household enters. Please double-check anything important against the real source, like your bank statement, your lender, or your doctor, before you act on it.

Question 22

Can Tahana AI get things wrong?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Tahana AI, receipt scanning, and food photo estimates can misread things or give a wrong answer, even when they sound sure. Tahana AI can also misunderstand you and add, change, or remove the wrong item. Always check what it did and anything it tells you, especially about money, health, and medication.

Question 23

Is Tahana financial, medical, or legal advice?

Accepted Answer

No. Tahana is a personal organizing tool. It doesn't replace a financial adviser, doctor, pharmacist, dietitian, or lawyer. Please don't make an important decision based only on Tahana, and in an emergency, contact your local emergency services.

Question 24

Is Tahana responsible if something it shows is wrong?

Accepted Answer

Our Terms of Service limit our responsibility for errors, including for things like late fees, interest, or missed reminders, as far as the law allows. You remain responsible for checking anything you rely on. Nothing in our Terms takes away rights you have under your local consumer laws. Please read Sections 11 and 12 of the Terms for the full details.

Question 25

I found a bug or a wrong result. What should I do?

Accepted Answer

Please stop relying on it and tell us. Tap Report a problem (the bug icon at the top of the app) and add a screenshot if you can, or email support@herolabsdigital.com. Reports are how we find and fix problems.

Question 26

Is my data secure?

Accepted Answer

We work hard to protect it. All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. We run on enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure with database-level row-level security, meaning your household's data is isolated from every other user at the database level. We never sell your data or use it for advertising. No online service can promise perfect security, so please use a strong password and turn on two-factor authentication.

Question 27

Does Tahana support two-factor authentication (2FA)?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In Settings → Security you can turn on two-factor authentication using any authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, and others). Once enabled, signing in requires your password plus a 6-digit code from your phone. You can also see every device signed in to your account, with its approximate location, and sign any of them out remotely.

Question 28

What if I lose access to my authenticator app?

Accepted Answer

Email support@herolabsdigital.com from the email address on your account and we'll verify your identity and remove the authenticator so you can sign back in and set up a new one. For your protection, we can't do this from any other email address.

Question 29

Where is my data stored?

Accepted Answer

Your data is stored on secure, enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure hosted in Canada and the United States. We rely on specialized, industry-standard providers for hosting, payment processing, and transactional email. Each is bound by strict data-protection agreements and can only access what is strictly necessary to operate the service. If you use the AI features, what you send them and the household data needed to answer goes to our AI provider, as explained below.

Question 30

Can I export or delete my data?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can export your data from account settings at any time. You can also request full account deletion, which will permanently remove all your data within 30 days. Once deleted, data cannot be recovered.

Question 31

Does the AI assistant see my data? Is it used to train AI models?

Accepted Answer

The AI assistant only processes data when you actively use it: your question, plus the household data needed to answer it (like your shopping list if you ask about groceries). Our AI providers are contractually prohibited from using your data to train their models, and if you never use the AI features, none of your data is ever sent to them.

Question 32

Can the developer or team behind Tahana see my data?

Accepted Answer

Your entries are private, and only you can see them. Everything you add to Tahana, like your transactions, health records, journal, messages, documents and photos, is visible only to you and to the household members you choose to share it with. No one on our team can read it: Tahana has no screen or tool that shows anyone's entries, and they're protected at the database level so they stay tied to your account. Like most apps, we do see basic account information (your name, email, sign-up date, your approximate city, and general usage such as which pages you visit, how long you use the app and how many items you add, never what they say) so we can run and improve Tahana. We never sell it.
